Overview
Big E is a Late Triassic-Early Jurassic porphyry copper project located within the Crow Springs District in the southern Royston Hills of western Nevada, approximately 37 kilometers northwest of Tonopah and 20 kilometers west of the Cretaceous Hall porphyry Mo-Cu deposit. The Crow Springs District includes a multi-phase intrusive center with zones of porphyry style alteration and mineralization which are highly anomalous in base metals and arsenic. Despite more recent gold exploration in the area, this district represents an underexplored portion of Nevada where significant porphyry exploration has not occurred in the last half-century.
The early, unsuccessful, exploration attempts in the district targeted the outcropping alteration and mineralization without regard for the presence of extension and post-mineral tilting. These early attempts at exploration in the district failed to intersect the proximal, high-temperature portions of any of the target porphyry systems. The Big E land package covers ground targeting the tilted and dismembered porphyry system, which is partially exposed on the surface.
Nearby mines and deposits provide context for the project, but do not necessarily indicate similar size, styles or grade of mineralization within the project.
